Real Pumpkin Treats

It is almost Halloween which means we have carved pumpkins to be seen in another post. Now! Down to business. What does one do with the guts and seed of a carved pumpkin? Well my roommate is roasting the seeds, but I used the guts. I used the guts to make pumpkin bread and pumpkin juice. Both of these recipes come from my Unofficial Harry Potter Cook Book. I am so excited about this post because both turned out really delicious.

First of all, here are the ingredients.

Then to make a puree of the pumpkin I just put the guts in the blender. Do a little at a time. I use the puree for the bread and I strained the puree for the juice.

Tweaks
I didn't really follow the instructions in the cookbook, I just mixed everything together and made my own tweaks:
  • Change the confectioners sugar to brown sugar for the bread.
  • Add cinnamon and sugar to the juice.
  • Melt the butter to make it easier to mix for the bread (mix wet ingredients separate from dry)

I hope you enjoyed these minor instructions for my pumpkin treats and I hope it makes your fall delicious. Let me know what you thought in the comments below and don't forget to connect with Moonie-Mag Malan on social media.

Study Breaks: Summer

One last summer post before the cold really sets in. Some summer study breaks are on my mind.
Here's my list:

1. Lay out
Get a good book and a friend and head to the pool.
2. Take a walk
Go somewhere that is covered in green and enjoy it.
3. Play Volleyball
You don't have to play in the sand, but I love Volleyball in the summer.
4. Sit Outside
Soak in the warm air and the sunshine.
5. Bake
Take the time you have and do something silly and fun.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Every birthday in our apartment, we try to get amazing gifts and gather our friends together and do something really fun. This year my birthday was on a Monday. The Saturday before, my mom came down with my brother and we celebrated. She gave me a cake, some very sweet birthday cards, and a printer. I actually asked for the printer. It wasn't a "remember your in school so be responsible" gift. It was great to see my mom because it's hard to be away from her and so far away. Part one of my birthday was a success.

Then my friends here in Auburn got me a few gifts. I got the softest pants in the world from a friend of mine who works at Loft. Then my roommates got me a Tervis water bottle and the new Harry Potter book. I am already almost done with it. Look out for my review on it. They also got me Macaroons. I love macaroons so much and they somehow imported them from France. It was way over the top and awesome and delicious.

I also received some beautiful birthday cards from some beautiful friends. Everything was so sweet and I got have Hibachi twice in a matter of two days. It was an awesome birthday and I am so thankful to everyone who helped me celebrate! Love y'all!!

My Reboot

Remember the old Moonie-Mag?

Well, I wanted to revamp, so I worked out a color scheme for everything and a design and didn't upload anything until I had one thing. I needed a new headshot. One that better told yall what I was all about. So I, with the help of my awesome roommate, got all dolled up and trapesed all around Auburn taking pictures. There were some pretty ones and some funny ones. I just wanted to share a few of my mistakes and success with me, the girl that is terrible at pictures always.

Traits of a Gilmore Girl

My favorite show to watch with mom, after the Sopranos of course, is Gilmore Girls. It is without a doubt the perfect mother/daughter show. Part of watching the show is wanting to be like the Gilmore Girls. Here are some tips to make yourself Gilmored!
Drink Coffee...DUH

Watch Movies
Read Books
Listen to Music
Speak in Analogies
Dress Cute and Comfortable
Study
Eat What you Want
Be Independent

Be Best Friends with your Mother/Daughter
This is how me and my mom plan on answering the phone with each other.

I hope you enjoyed how to be like a Gilmore Girl. I have loved this show since I was 10ish years old. That is about 11 years of this glorious show that me and my mom have bonded over. We are even more excited for Gilmore Girls a year in the life. Can't wait for that Netflix awesomeness but until then let me know what you think of this post in the comments below and have a wonderful day!

Traveling by Air

Being in a city that is a solid 8 hours away from home for six months, the most logical way to make it home for a weekend is to fly. Flying doesn't scare, in fact I love it. I love the feeling, heights, the little peanut packets you can get, and the ginger ale. But enough with my nostalgia.

Flying is still scary even if you aren't afraid of it, especially if you have anxiety issues. I find it hard to relax before a trip and also I just get bored because you have to get there so much earlier than your flight and then what? What do I do for nearly three hours, and then another hour and half on the plane because you can't exactly use Internet.

Well I have created a distraction guide to flying for all you lovely people out there that relate to these feelings even just a little bit. Here it is:

Before:
  1. Blog- Guess where I am while I write this?
  2. Pin- Pinterest is one of my biggest distractions.
  3. Call- Call anyone and everyone you can think of.
  4. Read- I'm not much of a reader, but my brother recommends this.
  5. Find a Bar- Maybe don't get belligerent, but just relax and soak up the free wifi.
During:
  1. Read- And don't look at your watch.
  2. Get a Snack- Eating is a guilty but good distraction.
  3. Write- The old fashioned way with paper and pen.
  4. Play a Game- That doesn't require wifi.
  5. Sleep- I hate to say it but take a sleeping pill or don't sleep the night before. Next time you wake up you'll be on the ground.
I know that these seem very "duh" of me but really sometimes people like me just need a list like this to see. I hope that this helped one of you if not all of you out there and I hope you have a sad

Golden Southern Sun NEW!

So it's been about three months since being down in Florida and I have accumulated more Disney products then I could ever imagine. I love it all and among my favorites are still the products from Golden Southern Sun. I use my magic band all the time and it makes me so happy to see the "Chewie...We're Home" decal when I pass by the launch bay in Hollywood Studios.

I love using my bottle everyday and I get asked all the time where I got my DCP decal. I love being able to tell them that the lovely Brionna Straube owns a shop on Etsy full of things like this.

Probably my favorite product is the ring dish. It's one of Brionna's favorite products too because it was inspired by her engagement. I like to keep my name tag there so I don't lose it.

I love the products from Golden Southern Sun and there are so much more now. There are awesome new Magic band decals, these awesome coozies and cups, and monograms that will make everything a little bit prettier. Check out all of her fabulous new products on Etsy by clicking any of the links in this post.

I absolutely love Golden Southern Sun and I love that I get to work with such a talented shop owner like Brionna. I hope you enjoy her products and let me know what you think about this post in the comments below. Have a magical day!
