The Moonie-Mag Title

Some of you have probably wondered why I call this blog Moonie-Mag. It's kind of funny. My blog went through a couple of names and looks before I redid everything. First let me explain my first name. Malan, pronounces May-lynn, was my granny's maiden name. It's unique like me and I love it. It's of French descent and it also traces back to Italy. I know that's weird because it doesn't end in a vowel, but I was told we are from this part of France that is right next to Italy and the two countries have even had arguments about weather or not it is French or Italy. So that's my first name.

For my blog, it was originally called Especially Me because I thought that would be cute but I ended up hating it because you have no idea how hard it is to fit that phrase in every post you do. Then I wanted to call it Moonlight and Magnolias. see two of my favorite things in the whole world are the moon and magnolias. Magnolias are my favorite flower and I just love the moon, especially when it is full. The problem with that is, there are a ton of other blogs with that same name. I didn't want a blog that was going to get lost among its name.

So, I decided to modify the phrase a bit and made it Moonie-Mag. It's perfect because the Moonie part sounds a little crazy, which I am and the Mag part makes it sound like a magazine where I am a journalist and a blog is a form or journalism so it just makes sense. It is an odd name but I still love it because some how it describes me better than any other name that I could come up with, besides Malan.

As I progress my blog I like to change and add a lot of different things, but I will never change my name. Moonie-Mag Malan is the perfect name for my blog. So there ya have it. That's my story to my name. I hope you enjoyed and I hope that those of you who were wondering aren't wondering anymore. It's not a real exciting story just a little funny I guess. Really the moon and magnolias make me so happy. I want to be proposed to under the moon and magnolias will be in my wedding!
I even made a T-shirt for my blog once that I really like! It has the moon and a magnolia, obviously, and there is a saying on it that is very appropriate for me: "Laughing at myself!"

Golden Southern Sun

Let me tell you about a shop that exists on Etsy. It is called Golden Southern Sun and it is a wonderful place to explore beautifully made products by shop owner Brionna Straube. She has a great story as to why she started her shop.

Her products are all a little piece of Disney. Not surprising considering she lives so close to Disney World and goes very often. Like me, Disney is a really big part of her life and it is something that has sparked her creativity! She draws a lot of inspiration from Disney and her products are just perfect for your average Disney lover like myself and so many others out there!

Brionna is specifically fond of her Ring Dishes! They were inspired by her own engagement and that makes them not only special to her but who ever may purchase them. Here's her story.

It was December. Brionna and her then boyfriend
were in the wedding pavilion that overlooks the
famous Cinderella's castle. They were in that spot
because that is the perfect place to watch the fire
works show "Wishes". During the spectacle, her
then boyfriend got down on one knee and asked
the magical question every girl wants to hear. He
PROPOSED!

When Brionna told me this story all I could think was "Goals!" That was so sweet and I hope to be proposed to at Disney one day too! It was this special moment for Brionna that inspired these beautiful ring dishes that are unlike anything I have ever seen at Disney myself, and I go quite frequently as well. They are certainly fit for a princess.

Brionna and I share a love of Disney that has comforted us our whole lives and I am so happy to write this post for her. Her products really are amazing for any Disney lover and I recommend checking them out here>>>> Golden Southern Sun! She has so many other products too and I'll just have to write another post about them all!!!

Congratulations to Brionna! I hope you all liked this post and I can't wait to post more about these awesome products. Let me know what you think in the comments below and have a wonderful day!!

Snow Ice Cream

WE HAD SNOW!!!!! We had snow this weekend and it caused for a half a day off on Friday. When I woke up on Saturday morning, I felt like Ralphie in a Christmas Story when he wakes up on Christmas day. I had this White light shining through my window. It wasn't yellow like the sun or blue like the moon, but white like the blanket of snow on the ground.
Narnia Anyone?

It didn't last long but It lasted enough for me to take some really cool pictures and make Snow Ice Cream. My dad introduced it to me. Here's the idea. Cup of snow with vanilla and sugar. Take a look!

Stay In Touch

We all say it. "Let's keep in touch." But how often does that actually happen. How often do you actually talk to those people that you said that to. I am a really bad texter. I have been since I first got my phone, and I am kind of notorious for it. This affects my keeping in touch with people. It's the easiest form of contact and I am bad at it....Wow. Any way, I am going away and I want to be better at keeping in touch with my friends so here's my plan for doing so.

Send a text. You don't have to do this every day but don't let it surpass a week. I will probably try to do this twice a week.

Write a letter. This is something that you can write and send and it will most likely surprise the receiver and it will be special.

Face time. I would love to do this when there is a special occasion like a birthday or something. It would be one way of being there.

Social Media. Doesn't matter what it is. Me and my roommate send each other pins on Pinterest all the time and Instagram moments are always special.

Thinking of you. When you see something, no matter what it is and you think of someone, share it with them. Doesn't matter how just do it.

Sometimes I get scared that I will be really annoying but I realize that they wouldn't be my friend if we didn't have things that I wanted to share with them. So I shall keep in touch with my friends while I am some where other than school and I hope these tips help. These are things I think all the time, but I often forget to use them because they just fade away into my MIND CLOSET. Don't laugh, it's a real thing. That's a really big reason to why I blog. Then it not only helps me but other people too. Let me know what you thought about how to stay in touch in the comments below and as always have a wonderful day!

Things I'll Miss Most

So I have taken an opportunity that will allow me to learn new things and gain new experiences. The one sad part is, I will be away from my beautiful campus and lovely friends for a whole semester. Really I haven't seen them since early December and I won't until early August, so it's a lot more than just a semester. It all racks up to about seven and a half months without my friends and family though I have been told people are to come visit. I will miss a lot though while I am gone.

What I will Miss:
The Campus
The People
Phi Lamb
The Small Town
Being able to Walk Everywhere
My Church
My Family
My Friends/Roommates/Sisters
Football(but that happens in fall anyway)
Toomer's Lemonade
Everything

What I hope to Gain:
New Friendships
New Memories
Laughter
More Knowledge of Who I am
Growth and Maturity
New Responsibility

I am excited, terrified, nervous, happy, and so much more. This is not what I expected from getting to live out one of my dreams. I just hope everyone is as happy to see me as I know I will when I see them! Wish me luck on my adventure and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Spa Day at Home

So I love doing spa days for myself. They are the most relaxing thing! So, I thought I would share my spa day with y'all.

First:
Start your morning with a bubble bath. Light some candles, play some music, and relax. I usually run a warm-hot bath and use my favorite body wash to make the bubbles.

Second:
When you get out of the bath, don't get dressed yet, just put on a robe. Give yourself a facial. Do your most prolonging face washing and do a mask. I have a post that goes into detail if you just click here: At Home Facial.

Third
This is when you do your nails. There's nothing like a mani/pedi to feel put together. Clean them, file them, two coats of color, and a top coat. Toes too. Really wash your feet good.

Fourth:
Be lazy. Still in your robe, sit or lay and watch your favorite show on Netflix, or read fashion magazines. Click here for some of my Favorite Binge Watching Shows.

Fifth:
Get dressed. I usually do spa days when I have something big that evening. I did one before my semi-formal last year. Do your hair and makeup first and then put on your awesome outfit.

You have completed your spa day. It is a wonderful feeling to treat yourself and it's even better when you don't have to spend money to do it. I love these kinds of things. Let me know what you thought in the comments below and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Get Over It

I am human, which means I have feelings and sometimes as humans we have feelings for people who may not deserve them or feel them in return. It happens to everybody. Heartbreak is a universal right of passage for people and it can be a difficult thing to get over. Drawing from my experiences, I would like to share what I have learned about getting over someone or something.

1. Distance
This will be the most difficult to accomplish because when you like someone or something, you want to be around them.

2. Learn from it
Don't just come away from something feeling pitiful. I know it hurts and you are most certainly allowed to feel that, but while you are (over)thinking about the whole thing, ask yourself what you can learn from it.

3.Talk it out
Let it all out, that's what friends are for, but don't go on about it for a year. There will come a time where you have run out of things to say and that's okay. At this point don't talk about it anymore because repeating it doesn't help.

4. Pray about it
Talking to friends is great, but talking to God is the best thing you can do. I have only recently come to rely on prayer more and more. I pray every night and I have for a while, but I'm not talking about your nightly lists of blessings for the people you love. Sometimes it is okay to talk to God about you and in this case, get down on your knees and let it all out to God. You would be surprised how much better you feel the next day.

5. Dress Up
Get all gussied up and you will feel instantly better. When you look good you feel good. It doesn't matter what your style is, wear your favorite outfit, do your hair and your makeup.

6. Go to the Gym
Any kind of exercise can let out a lot of built up feelings without having to cry or talk. Walk around your neighborhood, run, even just lifting weights. Take a class maybe or even just yoga. It's all good for you and your mind.

7. Spa Day
Have a spa day! just relax and treat yourself. Some focus on you is what you need. I have a way to pull off and At Home Spa Day. <<<<CLICK

8.Watch Movies
watch whatever movies you want. It doesn't 't matter what genre because even romantic comedies are good when you are just getting out of something.

9. Eat
You should eat whatever you want and not feel guilty about it. Try those indulgences you deprive yourself of normally.

10. Don't Dwell
After you do all of these things, the next step is to recover what you got over. These things are good once in a while but don't spend too long doing all this consistently every day for months. Dwelling on everything is unhealthy. Once you have let out all your feelings, clean up from them.

I hope that there isn't anything you do need to get over, but if you ever do, take it from me and try these things to help. Remember that all of these steps have different expiration dates and the point is to get back to your normal, happy self. Let me know what you think in the comments below and I hope you have a wonderful day!
