Budget Your Life

If you're like me, you love to shop. But we all know that shopping means spending money and sometimes that leads to having no money left. This school year I have started a part time job and money has become more of a topic on my brain. I definitely need to be better about spending money and keeping money in my bank account, so here are a few tricks I am going to try to help budget my life.

1. With every paycheck, make a point to save a certain amount, but allow yourself so money to spend. Try to factor in bills and Grocery so you don't overestimate how much money you have to spend. I usually try and save at least $100.

2. Try not to eat out as much as you normally would. I know it's tempting but if you do end up going out with your friends, look to the cheaper things or try and eat before so you don't eat with them. I usually get an appetizer. This is probably the hardest one but you can still make it work.

3. When you go grocery shopping, avoid super Target and Walmart because they have a lot more that food. I know I have been dragged in to the clearance workout clothes on many occasions. Go to Kroger, which has cheaper prices than most Walmarts. Go to Publix or the Walmart neighborhood market.

4. I will write this one in all caps because it's my biggest vice when it comes to money. STAY OFF AMAZON. Just don't do it unless you really need something and even then only buy that thing.

5. Don't be afraid of drugstore make-up. I love make-up and all its glory, but all the big well-known products are so expensive but you know drugstore make-up does have it's equivalents to those big brands. You may have to buy a different brand for each part of your face but you will find your match and end up really loving it.

So far these are my biggest problems, so I hope they applied to some of you in some way. Let me know what you think in the comments below and how it works. Thanks for reading!

Get Fit & Get Happy

The New Years resolution that I have been focused on the most is getting fit. I want to eat healthy and workout a lot. My goal is to look as fit as a sports illustrated model.....but that's shooting for another galaxy, but hey why not shoot for another galaxy and land on the stars?

So here are some of my fitness goals and tricks I am doing to achieve them.

Workouts
I have many different types of workouts. I find most of them on Pinterest of course. Click here>>>Pinterest to see my Health and Fitness board. I really like the workout I found from Fitness Lord right now. It is shown below. I usually do one of the cardios and then the workout for that day as well as a focus after, like butt, arms, abs, or legs.

Food
I have just decided to eat healthier over all. I used to just count calories and eat whatever I want, which on occasion I still do, but lets be honest. That doesn't really work. So I have either thrown my bad food away, or I have hidden it away for a rainy day. Here are some pictures of some of the meals I have been eating.

Yoga/Meditation
Remember to breath. Part of being healthy and fit is making sure that you aren't holding in all of the things that make you upset so let it out and breath. I like to read my bible and then meditate on that.

Sleep
I wake up at 5:20 A.M. to go to the gym and it's hard to get enough sleep when you do that, but I just try and shoot for 9:30 and sometimes it turns into 10 or even 10:30, but that's okay. I still get at least 7 hours of sleep and I still get to sleep in on the weekends.

So far this has been my favorite resolution because it really keeps me focused. I feel more awake in classes and pay attention more and I have less anxiety when I work out. I went about two days without going to the gym and all my anxiety flooded in. I think this is something I am really going to stick with hopefully even past this year. I will keep y'all up to date with my progress and any new tips and tricks I have for Getting Fit and Getting Happy. Let me know what you thought in the comments below and don't forget to follow me on social media.

Happy Birthday Dad

These past six months have been the hardest months of my life. I could list and list all of the things that have made it this way on top of the anxiety I have about it all, but the biggest and most important thing that has happened is the sudden passing of my dad in July. This has literally been the most devastating thing to happen to my family and there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about him or one of the many memories that I have with him. The reason I bring this up today is because his birthday is today. On January 19th, 1957 by dad was born.

So today I want to share some pictures and talk a little bit about my dad and how much he means to me. My dad was the most loving human being I have ever met. He never said a foul word about anyone and he was always willing to help. I know these qualities seem like generic things to say about one's dad but let me give you an example. My dad was a man who never went a day without saying goodnight to me. "Sweet tights a dreams, see you in the morning, I love you." This is a man who had a plethora of tea parties with me in my younger years. This is a man who would call me while I was in class just because he heard a ambulance headed to my high school and he wanted to make sure I was alright. And he wasn't just like this with me, he was like this with my three brothers too, minus the tea parties.

My dad loved my mom and his children so much. He would have done anything for us and I am so so grateful to have had a dad like this because I know that not everyone gets that lucky. My mom, who is my best friend, has lost her best friend and that breaks my heart. But I know how much he loved my mom. The week he passed I didn't leave my mom's side. One day I was next to her while she was looking in the mirror. She said something along the lines of, "I'm ugly...but daddy always thought I was beautiful. That's all I ever wanted for you baby girl." My dad truly told my mom that every single day. He loved her so much and my dad maintained that love through out their marriage.

I have attained a lot of qualities from my dad, but my favorites are this: being able to be friends with anyone, being a child at heart, and having an imagination that can put Walt Disney to shame. My dad was loved by everyone who came into his presence. He was such a joy and a light in this world and I can only hope to have a little bit of that. He was also a big child at heart. One of his favorite movies was "The Incredibles" and I can still remember being able to hear him watch it from my bedroom. And as far as his imagination, well I want you to think about this, every time you pick up a RIDGID or RYOBI Drill or get a Coke out of a vending machine, you should think about my dad. The industrial designer that has worked on those things to make them better, more efficient, and nicer to look at too.

My dad is everywhere to me. He is here in Auburn. He is in every Disney and Pixar movie. He is in the headboard he made me and the Auburn hat he gave me. He is in my heart and soul and I will never forget him. I will always love you daddy.

 Happy Birthday!

This year I have decided to really try and accomplish all of my New Years Resolutions. I know we all normally think of resolutions, stick to them for a week, and then they fall apart. Well I am really wanting to better myself and be happier, so I am actually going to stick to them. So let's get started.

  1. Get in Shape
  2. Budget
  3. Take up Meditation
  4. Work on my Posture
  5. Say "yes" More
  6. Cut back on Social Media
  7. Have more Faith
My list is actually much longer and way more detailed than this list, but these are the most important ones to me. I have attached other posts of mine that may pertain to each resolution and I hope you enjoy them.
