8 Moments when God was an Auburn Fan!

For those of you who are Auburn fans, only you will truly appreciate this. However, there are those of you outside of the Auburn family who may understand some these. Here in Auburn we are known for football games that keep you on the edge of you seat for four straight quarters and maybe even over time. This post is about the awesome plays I have seen as an Auburn fan and how they are just so unbelievable that the only explanation can simply be that God is an Auburn fan! I had the privilege to be at some of these games and they were incredible. I know for sure that I will never forget my freshman year here at Auburn. That was the 2013 season in case you were wondering. If these aren't enough to prove to you that God loves Auburn, then I advise you look up at those Orange and Blue sunsets in the sky. Sigma Phi Lambda!

Happy Saturday! This upcoming week is one of the most important weeks of the year for me and my sorority Sigma Phi Lambda. I have talked about my sorority before but I wanted to share with everyone what this really means to me.

What is it?

Phi Lamb is a Christian sorority that only has about 30 or more chapters all throughout the country. It was started at the University of Texas at Austin. It is about 27 years old and it is expanding every year. Our chapter at Auburn was founded in 2012. 

How I found it!

I have a friend who is in BYX or Beta Upselon Chi, here at Auburn. This is one of the two Christian fraternities here. He is one of my very good friends from church, and when he told me about Phi Lamb it really got me excited. Him and another BYX friend of mine got me in touch with one of the officers last year. I decided to attend Phi Lamb rush and it was the one of the best decissions of my life.

What it means to me!

Phi Lamb has a saying. "A place to belong." This is so true for me. I truly feel that I can be myself with these girls, and on top of that, they remind me everyday how blessed I am and that God is all around me in everything I do.

Our rush is coming up and that just made me want to share with y'all what this means to me and why. I can't wait to meet all our new potential members and to start this year off with great God-loving girls.

Traditions: Football Edition

As I mentioned last Friday, football is like a holiday for me and so this Friday a want to tell you all my Football Traditions for both home and away games. One is more fun than another, but none the less I love all the football games no matter where they are.

Away Games:
My traditions for Saturday morning without a home game here in Auburn consist of laziness.
I wake up and turn on game-day.
I always eat a bowl of cereal on Saturdays.
I see the picks and watch all the other games that day until Auburn.
When Auburn turns on, nothing else exists. I sit on the couch and am totally concentrated on the game.
When that game is done I can finally relax and do whatever I want with all my friends because it's Saturday night.

Home Games:
For home games, the first part of the day is quite similar to that of away games.
I wake up and turn on game-day.
I eat cereal and watch the picks for the day.
Here's where it gets different.
I get ready for game-day which is Auburn means some form of orange and blue in the cutest way possible. I love game-day outfits. Pretty much my whole closet is orange and blue.
Then we go to the game!
                     Things You Need:

• Shaker
• Tiger Card
• Game-day buttons (for free in the bookstore)
• Ignited Card
• Phone
• Toilet Paper

I after the game, if we win, we go to Toomer's corner and throw toilet paper.

After that, we all go to bed dreaming of good dreams of Auburn football.

I love football and the traditions I have, have been upheld since I was a small child. I am extremely excited for the first game and can't wait for the season to come. How to Study: Bible Edition!

Yesterday, a very awesomely godly thing happened. I have a friend who is very good at knowing the Bible. Though, he would probably never admit it. He really made me want to know it too, so I asked him if we could sit down and talk about it. The coolest part is, we don't talk all too often, but he was still perfectly willing to help. I want to share with you the awesome tips he shared with me!

 Here are the tips!

1-Set aside some time (20-30 min.) every day.

2-Read slowly to comprehend it better.

3-Take notes while reading. (This is a good tip for school study also!)

4-Keep away from technology.

5-Have a quiet spot.

6-Look up any questions you may have right away.

7-Open the day with it and end the day with it.

8-Pray before hand.

9-Ask yourself who, what, why, and how about what you read.

10-Know that somehow God will speak to you through all the pages you turn, and questions you have. Whether it be what is happening in your life, or all around you. 

As you can see, those are some pretty good tips I got yesterday. I started out this morning ready for about 30 minutes and I feel like I can confidently and lovingly take on the day. I am so grateful to have such Godly influences all around me. From my sorority sisters to my roommates and my friend who helped me read the Bible. The list goes on and on and I admire every single one of them for different reasons that all come down to one thing. Thier faith is stronger than anything, and that is why I do my best to learn from them and listen to them. Thank you all!

Surviving O-Days

Here at Auburn there is a little thing called O-Days. O-Days stands for Organization Days. On these days, there is a lot going on and I have created a survival guide for getting through this hectic week. First:

What are O-Days?
O-Days are the days that every organization on campus sets up a tent and/or table on the concourse. They are fully stocked and prepared to hand you flyers, coozies, and free sunglasses so that you will look into their organization. Seriously I have like ten pairs of free sunglasses.


What people normally do.
If you are a freshman, you probably didn't know that these existed. So you will be in the very deep of all the advertising. If you are not a freshman, then you probably try to turn your music up, look at your feet, and ignore all spokespeople that come close to you. Or just ry to avoid the concourse all together.

Two Perspectives.
I have been both the person who tried to avoid the caos at all costs and the person hading the flyer/freesunglasses out. I can honestly say that I know both points of views and that makes me very credible in writing this post.

What I Recommend.
I recommend that if you are headed to class and have a set time to be somewhere, avoid the concourse. Even if you manage to escape without a pair of sunglasses, it is still a very cramped place to try and get through. More cramped than usual anyway. However, when you have some time, weather it be a break or you are done with classes for the day, go and really look at everything out there. You would be surprises at what organizations really interest you and change your life. Keep in mind that not everyone will be out there on all the days and O-Days end at 2:00 everyday. It really is a great oppurtunity, especially if you are freshman. Go look at all the different groups and people and find your place here at Auburn.

Here are the questions that Grace gave me to answer:

1. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging because I love to write and it is a great feeling to have people actually read my thoughts and my stories. I get feedback and I get to come across other awesome bloggers in the process. 

2. Which is your favorite post of your own so far and why?

I favorite post of mine so far is probably my DIY headboard tutorial. I just loved that this was something me and my dad got to do together and I loved that it turned out so amazing. It was awesome getting to share it with everyone.

3. What is your greatest fear? Why?

I don't fear the normalities. I love sharks, heights, water, and fire. So what's left? This may be a really weird fear, but I fear death. I fear this because I don't know what it's like. I suppose it's like fear of the unknown, but this is something you can't just google you know? Anyway, that's it.

4. If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be, how long for and why?

I would definitely live the rest of my life in London if I could. No doubt. I love all things British and have claimed to be a Brit at heart. I just know I would fit right in over there. 

5. If you could have dinner with any 3 people in the world who would they be and why?

Back to what I said about being a Brit at heart, Kate Middleton would definitely be one of my three. With her would probably include Chris Evans and Nick Jonas.

6. Which is your favorite quality in yourself?

My favorite quality about myself is probably how versatile I am. What I mean by that is, I can be friends with anyone. My hobbies, interests, and personality just morphs to all kinds of people. It makes it easy to connect with anybody and everybody. That's my favorite quality about myself.

7. What do you hope to be doing in 5 years?

I hope to be happy doing something creative. My big dreams include: writing for a magazine, working for Disney, or even being an actress. I haven't narrowed it down to one just yet. I waiting to see where my road takes me before I make the final decision.

8. Are you vegetarian? Could you ever be? Why?

I am not a vegetarian and nor could I ever be. I may like cheeseburgers just a bit too much. I have tried being a vegetarian in the past, but it never stuck.

9. Would you rather never buy new makeup again or never buy new clothes again?

Makeup is an easier sacrifice for me than clothes. I just love clothes so much. Makeup is just another small accessory to an amazing outfit, but if you didn't have makeup it wouldn't take away from the amazing outfit. 

10. What is your biggest regret and your greatest achievement?

I don't have a "biggest" regret. As cliche as it sounds, I wouldn't change one little thing about my life because it is what shaped me into me and it was all apart of God's will. As far as my greatest achievement goes, that would probably be getting into Auburn. I was really scared I wouldn't get in and when I got my acceptance, I was ecstatic. I have wanted to come here since I can remember. I have always bled Orange and Blue and I couldn't be prouder.

Signs You are Roommates

Hello all! Me and my roommates have been living together for about a year now, and to celebrate our Roomie-versary, I thought I would share the little things that make it obvious we are roommates.

1. We have taken on each others' little habits. One of my roommates plays with her hair a lot and I now I have started to do it. We don't even realize we are doing it until we look at each other.

2. We have adapted to each others schedules. My roommates are big on working out at 5:30 A.M. I am big on working out also, just not at 5:30 A.M., but now I have started to go at 6:00 A.M. So now we are on similar schedules.

3. We can do perfect imitations of each other.

4. We have inside jokes that only we laugh at, and they probably originated late one night/early one morning.

5. Even though there are four beds in the house, we usually all end up in one.

6. Whenever one of us is upset or tired or mad, the others know without being told and does whatever it takes to make them feel better.

7. We know which roommate will appreciate which story the most, so they are usually the one we tell first.

8. You make unrealistic vacation trips as if they are real.

9. Where you find one of us, you can usually find another.

10. We wonder why God would bless us with three best friends, who are simultaneously your roommates.

So there is a little bit about me and my roommates. We are really close and I love it. Living with your best friends is by far the best thing you could ever do in your youth. Holidays: Football

It's Friday so that means one of four things! Food, Clothes, Holidays, and Holiday traditions. Well today I want to talk about one of my favorite holidays coming up in just a couple of weeks This may not be a holiday for some of you, but for me and my family, this almost beats Christmas.
I am referring to Football. I am so bummed that the first game is in Atlanta instead of here, but it is still so exciting to see Auburn Play. Football is so great!
I remember as a kid I would wake up on Saturdays and go in the family room, where the golden, fall light would shine through the windows while game-day was on. I would walk outside for a few minutes just to smell the fall air. Just overall, this time of the year is my favorite, and now being at Auburn, I love it even more. I get to sit in the student section with all my friends and I actually know some of the people on the field. It's just a great feeling to be a part of this whole thing.
Whether you are a fan, a player, a spirit leader of any kind, or your home on your couch with a bowl of cereal like I did for 18 years of my life. You are important to what makes football so great.
As a kid, I grew up with three brothers. You may have heard of them from my post about them and how they have influenced me in the best ways. Well, they all played football and for as long as I can remember, I was there at their practices, games, and even when my mom was preparing all their gear. They all played through high school at least and one even played in college. I guess you could say that I practically grew up on a football field.
I just have so many awesome memories of football. Once, at tiger walk I was like two feet away from Cam Newton. It was awesome, of course at the time I didn't realize how big he would actually be. It was one of the very first games he ever played for us. Then seeing him play and the connections he had with players like Cody Burns and Philip Lutzenkirchen. I actually had the pleasure of meeting Philip one night. It was so awesome.
I just get so excited about football and I am so excited to see what happens this season because Auburn is known for the games that put you on the edge of your seat at the last second. ;) So, all you football fans comment below and let me know what, who, or why you love football. How to Talk to Your Teachers!

I know I know I know! None of us really has the desire to go and talk to our teachers during those office hours that they have, but I say you should. You really will need them to pass this class and they are there waiting for you to ask for help. Now, there is a certain way that you should address your teachers, though. And it may be scary to actually do so, but that's why I am going to give you a few tips on how to do it.
First things first, figure out all your teachers office hours. It should be on the Syllabus. If you can make them, then I stongly suggest you go and just introduce yourself one day. Let them know you want to do well in their class and give them a reason to want to help you. They will greatly appreciate it and be impressed.

Make sure you remember what teacher is who, and be aware of their personality. Say your teachers name is John Smith. Don't go in his office and be like : "Sup John?". That's a no no. Unless, of course, he says otherwise.

Be respectful and remember that if you are taking a foreign language, that teacher may think something you do is rude depending on where they are from. I am in French this semester and I was informed that it is only customary to say monsieur, mademoiselle, or madame to address your teachers. So I advise you to be aware of where they are from in all cases.

Know that they really are there to help, so don't be afraid to ask questions. Even if you may think that they are stupid. I promise they aren't and someone else has had the same question.

Say thank you to your teacher when you can. Once I had a teacher who said that we wouldn't have class today when we got there, but the people who showed up would get extra credit. All we had to do was a sign a piece of paper and hand it to him. Especially in these cases, say thank you as you hand him the paper. But also they don't have to show up and teach. They do it for you. So make sure you appreciate them, because they could just stay home and tell you to read the book if they wanted.

Basically, the overall way to approach your teachers is to be appreciative and someone they would want to help. I hope this gives you an idea of how to take advantage of the time they have for you and how to go about it. Auburn Events!

Hello all! Things are kicking off fast here in Auburn, and it is so good to be back. One thing I still can't believe about Auburn is how much they have on campus for students. Today started out not so great. My car didn't start this morning. I pulled a muscle in my leg and guess how I get to class. I walk. But then something amazing happened.
I walked into the student center, and there was a nice man who asked me and my friends if we wanted free food. In excitement, I was like "Yeah of course!" The reaction was funny to some on-lookers and I am glad I could make them laugh.. They had free waffles with all the fixings and it was so delicious and I don't even feel bad about the fact that I had two breakfasts today.
Aubie made an appearance and I may have taken yet another picture with him, but no shame! I love him. He proposed to a sweet girl sitting at a table alone. My friend Lindsey asked her to join our full table and I am so glad she did. It was all people I had never met, minus Lindsey. It was so great to meet new people, see Aubie, and get free food in the process. As an out-of-stater, I know what it is like to come to a place where no one from your hometown, let alone you school, comes. I may be a junior, but when I was freshman I did all kinds of events they had on campus and that's where I met my first friends.
I totally recommend to all freshmen/transfers to go to the welcome events and all the other events they have on campus because they will have a lot and you will get a lot out of it. Sometimes you even get free stuff. I am telling you, I have like ten pairs of free sunglasses from Auburn and they are all different. Take advantage of the college life while you are here. It will be very beneficial for you. It was for me. I know it can seem lonely sometimes, but know that you are not the only one who feels like that, and you will meet your right group of people.

DIY Headboard

It's Tuesday! You know what that means. It's not Monday! Yay!
Hello everyone and I hope your week is going well so far. Today I am going to share with you the makings of my headboard. I know I said Wednesday, but I couldn't wait that long.
So basically, my dad did all the work, but I helped plan it.

My dad is an industrial designer, so when I worked with him over the summer it was easy to collaborate. He has this huge white board wall just for designs. Now, normally I just draw a bunch of Mickey heads, but this time me and him drew out the blueprint for what would be my fabulous, "Antebellum" headboard as my dad would call it. Here's the blueprint.

Then we went and picked out all the would. There was a 2x4, a 2x6, some smoother pieces for the top part, plastic white lattice, and a decoration that was yes, picked out by me.

My dad started to build when he got home from work the next day and pretty much already had the base.

Then I sanded it and painted it.

He attached the lattice and then we attached the decoration together.

It really turned out awesome and I love it. Eventually, I am going to add twinkle lights to the lattice and add some mood lighting.

Here's what it all looks like finished and put together. It was so much easier than you would think and we used all RYOBI tools to do it.
