Finals Stress Prevention

It's that time of year again. Exactly one week from yesterday finals will start and the stress will follow. For some of us stress has already begun. Here are a few weeks to keep yourself healthy and stress-free during finals week.

  1. Take Breaks
    • Make sure you aren't going non-stop. You can't retain anything when your brain is exhausted. Remember to take a couple breaks here and there.
  2. Full Night's Sleep
    • As a follow up to the last point, your brain retains information better when it is well rested, so NO ALL NIGHTERS. Sleep and let the information you learned absorb.
  3. Keep Snacks Healthier
    • Being pent up in a library for hours at a time, snacking is bound to happen, but be sure to keep some healthy snacks on hand. All those snacks can add up.
  4. Start Early
    • Try to get a head start on all of the material you need to study. Don't leave it down to crunch time. That's when studying becomes really stressful.
  5. Make Lists
    • Whenever I have to be responsible I like to make lists. To-do lists come in really handy in times like these. Be specific.
  6. Take Care of Yourself
    • On occasion pamper yourself and take care of yourself. When you feel clean and fresh, you feel more productive.
Okay! So there are a few tips for staying happy-ish for finals week. I hope this helped any of y'all and let me know what destresses y'all in the comments below. I hope you have a wonderful day.

What I'm Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! How lucky that my Thanksgiving post would also be my 100th. I know that Thanksgiving was yesterday, but I thought it important to remember what I am thankful for and who better to share it with than y'all. So here are a few things that I am thankful for.

My Family
I am grateful for my family. I have three brothers and loving parents. My oldest brother has a wife and two adorable dogs. My third oldest brother has a girlfriend and everyone is healthy and happy and I am thankful.

My Friends
This includes everyone from my roommates to my sorority and anyone who I have ever called a friend.

My Education
Sometimes I am walking on Auburn's campus and I see all the buildings I used to admire when I was a kid and I remember how wonderfully fortunate I am to go to school at the school I have wanted to go to for as long as I can remember. That's one dream of mine that came true.

My Talents
I don't know what to classify as talents, but I know I have the ability to do so much and that is something to be thankful for.

My Opportunities
I have been fortunate to have many opportunities in life. Blogging is one of them. I love being able to share bits and pieces of my life with all of you. I am also so thankful for the opportunity I will have with Disney next year.

My Home(s)
The "s" is for my home home, my school home, and my new home next semester.

My Faith
The most important thing I could be thankful for is our God and father! I am so thankful to be living with Jesus in my heart and the trust of a force so unmatchable. I am thankful to have God on my side.

There is no possible way to pinpoint every single thing that I am thankful for but this covers the importance. Basically, I am very thankful for everything in my life and I want to wish y'all a Happy Thanksgiving! Let me know what you are thankful for in the comments below.

4 Things to Expect on Premiere Nights

As some of you know, I went to the Hunger Games Premiere on Thursday night. You can read my review here. Well, while I was in the theatre I realized a few things about premiere nights.

It doesn't matter which time you choose to go to, expect it to be packed. Go early and expect not to be able to put your feet up.

If the night falls on a time when there are allergies, expect there to be coughing throughout the movie.

If you are seeing a book adaptation, you can expect a lot of shocked reactions when you know exactly what is going to happen. And maybe expect to be a little annoyed by it.

When you want to see every second of the movie, you can expect to have to pee like a racehorse by the end of the movie.

So because of all these things, be sure to get to the theatre early, have patience, and pee as close to the beginning of the movie as possible. Let me know what consistencies that you have noticed from going to premiere night. I hope you enjoyed my thoughts and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Mockingjay Part 2 Review

I absolutely love the Hunger Games series. I read the books, which is rare for me because I am not much of a reader, but I loved them. When they were made into movies I knew that they wouldn't be exactly the same as the book and I am okay with that because some things are harder to portray. From the first one, I have been able to say that I know the differences from the books to the movies but still I have always thought that both, for their medium, were done incredibly well and were very entertaining.

This time around it was very bittersweet. It was the last installment of the movies and though I knew what was going to happen, I was still very excited. I did dress up because I have never dressed up for a series before and this was the last one and I was Katniss for Halloween so I already had the costume. I did leave my bow at home, though. Needless to say, I was excited to see this movie.

So let's get to the movie. Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 was directed by Francis Lawrence and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth. It started right where I remember it leaving off in the books. At this point, Peeta has been rescued from the capitol and is not exactly in love with Katniss at the moment. Prim is excelling in medical attention and Mrs. Everdeen is still helping in that area as well. There are Mockingjay supporters in every district and Katniss is still filming Propos for Coin and Plutarch.

Right from the beginning this movie was, for lack of a better word, emotionally wrenching. It is definitely the darkest of all the movies and that is because the peak of the war is on the horizon as well as the down fall. It mimicked the book very well in my opinion. There were differences that I was kind of like "um what" but mostly it matched my imagination, which is rare. There was the part where the mutts attacked, and that's not what they looked like in the book, but then there is a part in the movie when Katniss and Prim are in the capitol and it was exactly how I pictured it in my head when I read the book......Then I cried.

I think the most important parts for the movie to get right compared to the book were done as epically on screen as they were in my head. For those of you who haven't seen the movie yet or even read the book, you will know what I am talking about. I don't want to spoil anything for any of you but let me just say, I love the books and I love the movies, though I can see the differences that usually make others angry. All in all, I cried when the end came because I knew the series was over.....Also I really had to use the restroom. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars!

Let me know what you thought of the Hunger Games movie adaptations in the comments below and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Words to Live by!

The Alpha Mu chapter of Sigma Phi Lambda has welcomed almost a hundred new lambies to our wonderful phamily. Our initiation was Tuesday and as a big I was happy to present my little with her official phi lamb pin, certificate, and a verse that I picked for her. I would like to share some pictures and the verse that I chose.

Okay, so for the verse I chose, I had narrowed it down to three:

  1. 1 Corinthians 13:7                                                                                                                                          "Love bears all things, believes all things,                                                                                   hopes all things, endures all things.                                                                                                    Love never fails."
  2. Colossians 3:2                                                                                                                                                     "Set your mind on things above."
  3. Ephesians 1:11                                                                                                                                                            "It is in Christ we find                                                                                                                   who we are                                                                                                              and what we are living for."
I didn't mean to make this sound like "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", but I did end up choosing the third one. These three really stuck out to me because they are true words to live by. It is important that we remember the love that God has for us, our focus should be on God above, and that he gives us a reason and the strength to live.
In the end, any one of these would be perfect but something about Ephesians 1:11 really stuck out to me. Maybe because I feel like this is a verse that needs to be said more often, or that I need to hear it more often. So I decorated it up and tried to make it artsy. Whatever the reason for choosing it, my little really loved it and that made me so happy.

I really enjoy when I need to think about the Bible more because it enlightens me. Though I may have heard these verses before, they were still verses I really needed right now. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I made for Sigma Phi Lambda's initiation. Let me know what verse's impact you in the comment's below and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Here are those pictures I promised you.

She's growing up so fast!

A little bit of our extended phamily!

Congratulations new Lambies!

#Hashtag

When you have multiple social media accounts for different reasons, something that you really rely on are hashtags. They allow people with your same interests, who may not follow you, to see your posts. I myself have four different Instagrams. I have one for Moonie-Mag Malan, one for my music, one for my photography, and my personal one. I never use hashtags on my personal one, but I load up on hashtags for my other "business" Instagrams. That's what I call them because I don't know what else to.

What's the Problem?
The problem with hashtags is having to remember all the ones you use for your account on a regular basis and in my case, making sure I don't mistake my accounts when hashtagging.

Solution:
I have come up with a way where you will not have to remember all of your hashtags or have to type them out individually just so spellcheck can correct them. <That really annoys me. What you do is, go to note and type out all the hashtags you can think of. If you're like me and have multiple accounts, make a different note for each so you just have to select all when you highlight them.

Whenever you make a post, go to note, highlight all, copy, and then paste it after your caption. Add any hashtags that may be special to the post and share it. You never have to type out each lengthy hashtag again, just the special ones.

I hope you enjoyed this solution to what I have found to be a problem. Let me know what you thought in the comments below and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Rock n'Roll Sushi Review

I have liked sushi since I was a little kid. I know that that's odd for a child to like sushi, but I have always been open to trying different food and I usually love it. Because I like sushi so much, I was really excited to learn that a new sushi place has opened up right down the street from where I live.

A Rock n Roll Sushi opened up in Auburn. My roommate and I decided to go for dinner after the game on Saturday. It was literally "open night" and we asked for ours to-go sense we live in walking distance. (We were their first to-go order. #Proud)

Ambience:
The first thing I saw when I walked in was the Auburn logo made completely out of KISS album covers. It was absolutely awesome and, for some reason, it didn't occur to me that the overall appearance of the place would have a music theme. But it did and it was awesome. There were paintings all over of Madonna, Michael Jackson, Steven Tyler, etc. Their rolls were also named after all these great artists. I really liked the vibe I was getting so far.

The Menu:
When choosing what I wanted, I stuck to what I know because then I would know how to judge if it was good sushi. They have their own musicien style sushi and some classics. A little something for everyone. My favorite is the Rainbow roll. It has everything I love all rolled into one. Pun not intended....at first. My roommate got the Madonna roll. While we were waiting for our order, everyone was very nice to make sure we were alright and that we had been helped. I like that they actually cared instead of just walking on by. The orders came with chopsticks, eel sauce, spicey mayo, and soy sauce of course.

The Food:
When we got home, I was the only one who had the guts to try the eel sausce. I liked what little bit I licked off my finger. My roommate really liked the spicey mayo. When we finally ate our rolls they were so good. We were both very happy with what we had ordered. The rolls werent too dry and the fish was as fresh as could be being in Auburn, AL. I really enjoyed my decision and my roommate did as well.

Shout out to Rock n' Roll Sushi of Auburn for being my new favorite place to eat in Auburn. Let me know if any of you try and eat there and what you though in the comments below. I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Just Wing It!

Something I have never actually talked about is how much I love makeup. I love doing a full face, and even watch youtube tutorials about it. From all of these tutorials, I have learned a few tricks. Well, yesterday I did my full face and tried winging my eyeliner. I got a lot of compliments and was asked how I did it, so I decided to write a blog post about it. Here are just a few tips for how to do a winged eyeliner. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

What to Use:
I use Lorac liquid eyeliner. It's like a marker for your eye which makes it super easy for application. It stays for a really long time and it's also not like other liquid eyeliner where you have to wait for it to dry. I also like using Revlon liquid or any other liquid with a fine point and not a real brush.

Where to Start:
Eyeliner does just what the name says. It lines your eye and your eye has its own outline that you can follow. To find where your eyeliner should start on your upper eye, just follow a continuation of your lower lashline to your upper lid. Or if you do the sticky tape/ paper trick when you apply your eyeshadow, then you already have that line drawn for you.

How Big to Make it:
This is your preference. If you want full on wing out to your temple or if you want to just take it to your crease, it's your choice. How far you go can affect how thick you make your line, so just keep that in mind when you are drawing your wing. Start slow and if you want more then do more.

If a Mistake Happens:
Mistakes happen because this can be a difficult trick. When they do happen just take a Q-tip and some makeup remover and just wipe away your mistake.

Finishing Touches:
Make the end of your liner come to a point, add some mascara(or a lot), and off you go. Also, be sure to fill in your eyebrows.

So those are a few tips for applying eyeliner. Shout out to all you youtube tutorials for making great videos and I hope y'all keep it up. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Killer Christmas List

So around this time of year my mom always asks for a Christmas list. So I write so Santa and give him plenty of options to choose from. ;-)

Well, last year I walked into my roommate's room and saw her making a powerpoint for her Christmas list. I thought this was a great idea and I am pretty good at powerpoints. So, I decided to make my own. It was a pretty fantastic animation if I do say so myself and here is the first slide of it:

This was from last year, and once I have completed my one for this year I will let y'all see that one too. It's different because I rewrote a Christmas classic to get my point across. I know you must be thinking this girl is weird lol, but I just like to make things exciting.

I hope you enjoyed my idea for a killer Christmas list. Let me know what you go all out for during the Holiday season in the comments below. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

War Eagle!

For those of you that don't know, I love FOOTBALL! There is just something about waking up on a Saturday morning, walking outside to smell the fall air, pouring myself a big bowl of cereal, and then settling into the couch for GameDay.
Well, today's post is about how proud I am to be an Auburn Tiger because Saturday Auburn played amazingly against Texas A&M. We had so many well-executed plays and we had zero turnovers.
This season has been pretty wishy-washy and it has definitely been a season we didn't expect. After Saturday's win, I feel like we got our team back to the fullest potential. I am so proud of my tigers and I wanted to share with y'all my excitement.
Congratulations guys and thanks for putting in some hard work this past week and I hope you keep it up. I love y'all and War Eagle!
Let me know who your favorite team is in the comments below or just share some amazingness you witnessed on Saturday because there was a lot of it. I hope you all have a wonderful week and a wonderful day!

Movie Review: Pan

If there is one thing everyone should know about me is that I love movies and I love magic. My favorite magic-filled story? Peter Pan. Today I am going to review its live-action prequel by Warner Bros. that came out this past month. Pan.

So there has been this live-action kick, where the classic cartoons we all love, are being made into a live action version. For Peter Pan, Warner Bros. have made the beginning of Peter's lostness called Pan. This is great because hopefully it means we can expect a sequel.

Pan was very different from what you might expect from the cartoon adaptation or even the original book by J. M. Barrie. It begins with Peter's mom, upbringing, and friendships while he was still here in our world. Upon arrival in Neverland for the first time, it is not the magical place we all know and love. Though, there are still pirates, natives, and fairies. There is a war going on in Neverland. To see what happens you will just have to go and see it for yourself and it is totally worth it. The one thing that creeped me out from this movie was the appearance of the pirates, but when you make something live action, the villains should be creepier than normal.

As a fan of Peter Pan for as long as I can remember, this movie lived up to my expectations and then some. I really enjoyed this movie and I don't even care that I went to see it by myself........No shame.
I recommend this movie if you love thrilling, realistic versions of your favorite magical stories. I give it a 2.75 out of 5 stars.

My Halloween!

Hello all, and happy November! I had a great Halloween and I hope you all did too. Halloween for me is more like a week long holiday rather than just a day. I dressed up four times last week and now I want to share my costumes with y'all.

Tuesday: Trunk or Treat
I was Katniss in a group. One of my roommates was Effie Trinket and I had so much fun teasing her hair. My other roommate was Prim. We looked so good that I decided to make a movie poster out of us. So here we are!

Thursday: BYX Rave
I have always wanted to be Belle from Beauty and the Beast and I finally got to do it. I had this old dress, white t-shirt, and my apron is also a white t-shirt. I found the bow in my apartment and wore black flats. The book was in my roommate's car when we went to leave and that worked out perfectly.

Friday: Tiger Nights
I was Rosie the Riveter on this night. This was the easiest costume of the week. A jean shirt, red headband, and a ponytail and it was like I was her. I also added red lipstick because let's be real, who wouldn't?

Saturday: Halloween
We had a football game on Halloween and though it didn't go as planned, I still got to wear my captain America t-shirt and homemade shield into the stadium. I am a little bit of a nerd, in case you were wondering. I taped a ribbon on the back of my shield to make it a backpack so it was pretty legit. I was pretty proud of it.

In conclusion, I had fun this Halloween to say the least and I hope you enjoyed seeing all of my costumes from this year. Let me know about your costumes in the comments below. I would love to hear it! I hope your Monday is treating you well and I hope you have a wonderful week.
